The book fixed 86 spots the moment it went to print. The app never had to. The idea behind it was always that access details could keep changing after printing. That logic works the other way round too: spots no longer have to fit inside 364 pages. I’ve started adding Lofoten bonus photo spots, places that didn’t make it into the book at all.
Six so far, and more will follow. There’s no fixed schedule: a spot goes in when it earns its place, and when I feel like sharing it.
What these bonus photo spots look like
I won’t name them, but here’s a sense of what to expect: a solitary hut facing open water, the kind of place that works because of what’s not in the frame. One spot is a waterfall working its way down a wide slab of rock rather than dropping in one line. Another is a rock plateau you reach on foot along the shore, well away from anywhere else people stand. A shallow cave-like overhang frames a fjord if you get close enough and go wide. From an old coast road, you look down on a bay with mountains lined up along the horizon on the far side. And a stretch of road lets the view open up slowly, mile by mile, until the peaks start reflecting in the water. Each comes with the same field notes as every other spot in the app — where to park, what to watch for, when the light works.
How do you get access to the bonus spots?
There’s nothing new to install, no second QR code, and nothing extra to buy. Any of the 86 codes in the book still opens to that spot’s page, and from there the full list and map are one tap away.
That list now carries a bonus-spot filter — if you’ve already got the book, jump straight to it and you’ll see exactly what’s new, without having to dig through the other 86 spots from the book.

New spots are only part of it. Most of what happens between updates goes into the app itself — better data, small fixes, features that make it more useful in the field, the way the last update did.
What I’m not telling you
I’m not naming these six, and I won’t say exactly where they are. Some places stay quiet precisely because they’re hard to find, and that’s part of what makes them worth visiting. Naming them here would undo that in a way the book itself doesn’t. What I can do is show you a glimpse — if you know the islands well and look closely, you might guess where some of these were taken.
